REASON #4 Win Prizes

And each of our bakers is hoping that you give then your vote for “Best Tasting Cake”.  When you check in at the registration table you will receive a BALLOT to cast your vote.  All cakes will be color coded with a color ribbon:  red, blue, green, aqua…etc.  and you vote by color.  About 8pm we close voting and will count the votes, with the best tasting cake award given out about 8:15pm.

2018 Cake and Champagne Bridal Show

Making the Most of a Bridal Show

Many brides tell me that they are thoroughly overwhelmed the first time they attend a bridal show, so I thought it might be good to lay out a few guidelines to help you make the most of your time.

Here are tips to get the maximum benefit from any show:

Before you go to any show, print several sheets of adhesive address labels with your name, contact information, AND wedding date.  If you have not yet set a wedding date, add something like Spring 2018.  Quickly peel off a label and stick it on an inquiry sheet at any booth that you would like to receive additional information.

Bring your checkbook – you just might want to book or hold a date.  High demand dates go quickly.  September and October dates book quickly here in our area.  It’s prime wedding season, and many vendors like venues and photographers book a year out!

Bring family and friends you trust, and whose opinion matter.  But be careful of the size of your group because too many opinions, and you could be overwhelmed with indecision.

Invite your groom, but take him only if he wants to have a voice in this part of the wedding planning.  If this is not his thing, don’t torture him!  (Note:  Bring your groom along to our January 21st My Dream Wedding Bridal Show at The Christy Banquet Center and try out some complimentary dance lessons provided by Dance Pizazz.)

Know what you are looking for and what’s your budget.

Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Be ready with phrases such as, “I’ll think about that.”  And always give yourself a set amount of time and make a decision.  One of the biggest causes of stress in wedding planning is not making decisions on a timely basis…and then things start to really back up and you’ll find yourself in a spin trying to finalize decision.

Whether your wedding is a few months away or an entire year, our bridal shows will help you pull everything together.

A delicious wedding cake is the sweetest ending to a perfect wedding celebration.  Collect inspiration at the 2016 Cake & Champagne Tasting Event & Bridal Show on Thursday night, September 22, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Airport West located in Earth City just off Highway 70 from 6pm to 8:30pm. Whether you style is modern and trendy, traditional, or vintage you can not only see a large selection of beautiful cakes, but you will also get to TASTE the cakes.

When you arrive you will receive a ballot to vote for your favorite cake.  Cakes will be plated and numbered and you will vote by number – so it’s a blind taste test.  We will also vote for the best, most artistic looking cake as well.   Vote results will be announced at 8:15pm.

Enjoy champagne, appetizers and a fun evening.   There will be 35 to 40 professional wedding vendors there as well so it’s a great time to start planning your special day.  Be sure to bring your wedding party, friends, family, and yes, the groom too.

You could be the winner of the $200.00 GRAND PRIZE from BrideStLouis.  Additional prizes will be awarded during the night as well.

What’s not to love – great music, good fun, and cake, of course!

Making the Most of a Bridal Show

I don’t know about you, but I need something – anything – to help warm up!  You, too?  Well, why not stay warm by attending our upcoming bridal show, My Dream Wedding, being held this Sunday January 24th, 2016 at The Christy Banquet Center in O’Fallon, Missouri.  It starts at 11am and closes at 3:30pm.  You will experience the #1 Bridal Boutique Event of the year with exquisite décor, uplighting, a great free lunch (The Christy has amazing food!), a mimosa when you arrive, lots of gifts & prizes, a fashion parade that goes on from 12 noon to three in the afternoon (including the cutest flower girls), over 40 select professional wedding vendors, and three free educational seminars on wedding planning, photography, and some quick 30 minutes of ballroom dance lessons for that first dance.

The newest trend in Bridal Shows is the smaller, more boutique shows that don’t feel like an “expo” and where you can have fun, ask questions, and not be ran over by people just trying to get “free” stuff.

Many brides tell me that they are thoroughly overwhelmed the first time they attend a bridal fair, so I thought it might be good to lay out a few guidelines to help you make the most of your time.

Before you go to any show – print several sheets of adhesive address labels with your name, contact information, AND wedding date.  Quickly peel off a label and stick it on an inquiry sheet at any booth that you would like to receive additional information.

Bring your checkbook – you just might want to book or hold a date.  High demand dates can go quickly.

Bring family or friends you trust, and whose opinion matters.  But be careful of the size of your group.  Too many opinions – and you could be overwhelmed with indecision.

Invite your groom – but take him only if he wants to have a voice in this part of the wedding planning.  If this is not his thing, don’t torture him!

Be ready with phrases such as, “I’ll think about that.”  And always give yourself a set amount of time and make a decision.  One of the biggest causes of stress in wedding planning is not making decisions on a timely basis..and then things start too really back up and you’ll find yourself in a spin trying to finalize decisions.

Select your venue – photographer – videographer first.  Photographers and videographers book fast as they usually accept only one client on any one day, and prime dates go fast.  Honestly – lots of photographers have their May, June, Sept. and October dates almost all full already!   It’s not too early to put down that deposit.  Florists, Bakeries and other items can be booked a bit later as they usually can handle more than one wedding per date.

Whether your wedding is a few months away or an entire year, a bridal show will help you pull everything together.

Come Snow, Rain, Sleet or Sunshine – we hope to see you this Sunday.  For more information and advance ticket purchase for the My Dream Wedding go to www.BrideStLouis.com

Bride Alive Review

Alive Bride presented by Alive Magazine was a fun night of social buzz and a lot of Radiant Orchid – the Pantone color of the year!   It was a great experience and well organized.  There were probably about 35-40 vendors and the space was packed.  The thing about bridal shows is that you can always learn something or meet somebody new.

A new comer to the bridal scene is a company called Sparked Media Collective.  They are storybook videographers that have some amazing packages. Ces and Judy’s, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Local Harvest Catering, and Gregory’s Creative Cuisine all had some terrific food tastings.  Another favorite of mine was Pink Picker Party that creates some beautiful custom, handmade décor items.  And then The Hive from Alton, another great find, had a wonderful display of gourmet popcorn and candy.  These new vendors have all been added to our web site and you can find them at www.BrideStLouis.com/listings.  Another vendor that was there was the Moonrise Hotel and I hope to visit with them soon and do a full review of their venue for you.

The only complaint that I had, and others had as well, is that the DJ was way too loud.  No one could talk over them.  That seems to be a problem at many bridal shows, and I seriously wish that show organizers would address that issue.  It makes it extremely difficult to carry on conversations and make connections.

But other than that – it was a great event.
