Time for a little romance and hot chocolate!

Sometimes it’s good to take a break from wedding planning and just relax.  It’s a cold winter day.  And there is nothing better than a good book and a cup of hot chocolate.  You are on your own for the hot chocolate today, but here is a list of great books about romance, love and more that will inspire you.

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Phillipp Sendker

This novel celebrates romance and the strength of family ties in a masterpiece story that spans decades, continents, and physical disabilities to bring two people into a lasting love.

How to Tell Toledo From the Night Sky by Lydia Netzer

This story is based on the premises of two women who raise their children to become soul mates.  The women go their separate ways, but the children ultimately meet again and fall in love.  This hook is a heart shattering story that asks, “Can true love exist if it’s been planned from birth?”

Who Moved My Cheese? By Spencer Johnson, M.D.

This is a very simple story that is a quick read.  It is an enlightening story of four characters who live in a “Maze” and look for “Cheese” to nourish them and make them happy.  Two are mice named Sniff and Scurry, and two are mouse-size people named Hem and Haw.  “Cheese” is a metaphor for what people want to have in life.  And, “The Maze” is where people look for what they want.  In the story the characters are faced with unexpected change.  One of them deals with change successfully, and writes what he has learned from his experiences on the maze walls.   When listeners come to see “The Handwriting on the Wall” they can discover for themselves how to deal with change and enjoy more success and less stress in their lives.  (Okay, this is not really a love story, but it is a great book about moving forward together in a new life – because getting married does require change.  It’s one of my favorites!)
